Gesture based trunk opening with visual gesture detection
When the fob or phone key is detected, allow a leg swipe or another leg gesture behind the rear camera to automatically release the trunk or liftgate or bed cover. This can be done using image recognition with the rear view camera and does not require additional sensors.
It enables convenient opening when your hands are carrying stuff and you cannot easily grab your keyfob, phone key or trunk button. Some automakers include this feature in some models, but the implementation is often based on separate sensors instead of visual gesture detection.
Using the key fob as feature activator, this feature can be implemented very energy efficient, as the rear camera and AP processors only awake when the key fob is detected.
